Bullemhead

After witnessing a bullfight firsthand, I have no desire to see it again. I have no problem with killing animals for food, but torturing them does nothing for me.

Here is a brief history of Spanish bullfighting, as written by a matador. He mentions that it is more of a dance than a sport, and the beauty lies in the dexterity and gracefulness of the matador as he dodges the charging bull. I could see that aspect, but I couldn’t silence the more immediate instinct to put a suffering animal out of its misery. Regardless of grace, he is still out there toying with a seriously injured bull for entertainment.

As my Dad said while we were watching it, “If I had my pistol I’d run out there and shoot him in the head.” I wasn’t sure which one he was talking about.

I live above a bakery in Brooklyn, so there are enough mice to keep my cat plenty busy. She’s caught 3 in the past week, usually bringing them into my room and setting them at my feet. This time I heard her playing with something in the kitchen, and came in to find this. I’m pretty sure she was showing off.

Shotgun Golf

November 25th, 2007 by quirk

Last year for Thanksgiving I ate nachos in my underwear in my darkened living room, so this year I decided to head home to Indiana for an actual meal. After gorging on turkey and football, my friends and I drove out to the farm for some target practice, skeet shooting, and shotgun golf.

Mountain Man

Nelson and I shot a commercial this weekend in Vermont. This man stopped by the shoot out on the sidewalk in downtown Burlington, and Nelson filmed him for about 6 minutes. This is unedited except for color correction.

Big Screen, Little Screen, and Michel Gondry

October 26th, 2007 by quirk

Michel Gondry and Robert Stickgold discuss dreams, filmmaking and the scientific method:

I met the producer of this video, Jacob Klein, last night at the Big Screen Little Screen meetup at For Your Imagination, a great meetup where local online video producers showcase some of their work and then answer questions from the audience and discuss the piece. The discussion focuses almost exclusively on content, instead of the technical side of online video that so many meetups I’ve attended seem to lean towards.

Jacob mentioned that he had interviewed Michel Gondry, and I played it cool, but I gotta admit I was jealous and anxious to watch the interview. Gondry is one of my favorite all-time filmmakers, and this interview is amazing.

Wrecked

March 6th, 2007 by quirk

We are running hot; our gears greased and free.

Our first two auctions (one, two) were legitimate successes.

Then something happened. Either some negative nancy reported us to eBay out of malice, or they just were offended by our obviously sarcastic remark about terrorist blogs on auction two. Either way, they booted us.

So now, we’ve taken matters into our own dirty hands. Learn about it:

Due to a recent incident involving certain by-products of our current political environment, an unnamed online auction site has banned Wreck & Salvage from use of its services. At times like these True Patriots must stand tall. We will not cower to corporate terrorism that attempts to stifle the free enterprise system of the good ol’ USA.

Thus, effective immediately we will host independent auctions through our own site (link)

Show these carpetbaggers, these usurpers of blue-collared red-blooded America, who really greases the gears and stokes the furnaces of Our Homeland.

Our auctions run on the honor system, and our word is 350 maraging steel (in layman’s terms, it’s damned solid).

RULES TO FOLLOW

1. All bids are contracts, reneging on bids will result in a swift kick to the shins.

2. The auction begins after the first bid is placed, and ends on the date noted in the weekly post.

3. This is the honor system.

That’s it. Good luck.

Here are our previous eBay auctions: Weeks One & Two

Bid with confidence, and without Fear.

On that note, I leave you with these two important links:

1. Our auction for week three

2. This Thomas Jefferson VS. Hunter S. Thompson video helps to explain our feelings on the situation.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
