Bush’s Bullshit Speech
From Factcheck.org
The President repeatedly stated his upbeat conclusions as though they were facts. For example, he said of “the terrorists:”
Bush: They failed to break our coalition and force a mass withdrawal by our allies. They failed to incite an Iraqi civil war..
In fact, there have been withdrawals by allies.
Spain pulled out its 1,300 soldiers in April, and Honduras brought home its 370 troops at the same time. The Philippines withdrew its 51 troops last summer to save the life of a Filipino hostage held captive for eight months in Iraq. Ukraine has already begun a phased pullout of its 1,650-person contingent, which the Defense Ministry intends to complete by the end of the year. Both the Netherlands and Italy have announced plans to withdraw their troops, and the Bulgarian parliament recently granted approval to bring home its 450 soldiers. Poland, supplying the third-largest contingent in the coalition after Italy’s departure, has backed off a plan for full withdrawal of troops due to the success of Iraqi elections and talks with Condoleezza Rice, but the Polish Press Agency announced in June that the next troop rotation will have 200 fewer soldiers.
Bush is of course entitled to argue that these withdrawals don’t constitute a “mass” withdrawal, but an argument isn’t equivalent to a fact.
The same goes for Bush’s statement there’s no “civil war” going on. In fact, some believe that what’s commonly called the “insurgency” already is a “civil war” or something very close to it. For example, in an April 30 piece, the Times of London quotes Colonel Salem Zajay, a police commander in Southern Baghdad, as saying, “The war is not between the Iraqis and the Americans. It is between the Shia and the Sunni.” Again, Bush is entitled to state his opinion to the contrary, but stating a thing doesn’t make it so.
Terrorism
Similarly, Bush equated Iraqi insurgents with terrorists who would attack the US if they could.
Bush: There is only one course of action against them: to defeat them abroad before they attack us at home. . . . Our mission in Iraq is clear. We are hunting down the terrorists.
Despite a few public claims to the contrary, however, no solid evidence has surfaced linking Iraq to attacks on the United States, and Bush offered none in his speech. The 9/11 Commission issued a staff report more than a year ago saying “so far we have no credible evidence that Iraq and al Qaeda cooperated on attacks against the United States.” It said Osama bin Laden made a request in 1994 to establish training camps in Iraq, but “but Iraq apparently never responded.” That was before bin Laden was ejected from Sudan and moved his operation to Afghanistan.
Osama bin Laden
Bush quoted a recent tape-recorded message by bin Laden as evidence that the Iraq conflict is “a central front in the war on terror:”
Bush: Hear the words of Osama bin Laden: “This Third World War is raging” in Iraq…”The whole world is watching this war.” He says it will end in “victory and glory or misery and humiliation.”
However, Bush passed over the fact that the relationship between bin Laden and the Iraqi insurgents - to the extent one existed at all before - grew much closer after the US invaded Iraq. Insurgent leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi did not announce his formal allegiance with bin Laden until October, 2004. It was only then that Zarqawi changed the name of his group from “Unification and Holy War Group” to “al Qaeda in Iraq.”

When will the American people wake up, get educated, and finally realise that they have the most gutless redneck president in their history. I can’t believe you voted him in Again. All this crap about freedom and democracy. Get real. You all live very insular lives because of your government. A war president ???? Please, the world is laughing at you and your antics. Sorry to the families of fallen soldiers. You are fighting a losing battle for short term low fuel prices.

Sadly, with the price of oil paid in blood,it seems that apathy allows for extraordinary circumstances to prevail. An egotistical and incompetent U.S President. C&C of the armed forces. Sat on his arse and read a childrens book while NY was attacked.A war president? I say more of a ‘warped’ president. Is this guy wired straight? I mean whats his program?..never admit when you’re wrong, skirt poignant facts to produce a different version of events? Bush to me proves the stupid can be dangerous when given power.
Lets cross our fingers and pray that unecessary deaths will be minimal while this clown runs the circus. “Beware of vested interest under the guise of moral principle” -Oscar Wild.

I must say I am shocked that such…well let me put it bluntly; bullshit would be published on the web. Please show me at least 3 incidents when forces other than the U.S., the new Iraqi military forces, and the United Kingdom’s military forces actually did something worthwhile for efforts in general to eliminate terrorists. There are NONE! The only forces who started to fight right away, and did anything worthwhile was the US, the new Iraqi military forces, and the United Kingdom’s forces. Thus, making your claim, “In fact, there have been withdrawals by allies” completely irrelevant to the point portrayed within the text. If they left or stayed, the US efforts would not suffer either way. Therefore making the statement made by bush, “They failed to break our coalition and force a mass withdrawal by our allies. They failed to incite an Iraqi civil war.” completely truthful. Yes some troops labeled as our allies withdrew, but never on a mass scale. Like you said little by little. But I must stress that the allies that withdrew don’t mean anything to our war efforts because they barely did anything to begin with. The only reason more countries started to get involved for example the glorious French is because reconstruction of Iraq made many construction opportunities. These so called allies that stabbed us in the back in the beginning of the war just wanted in to make a fortune off the price of the people, a fortune to rebuild Iraq. Again, you are entitled to your opinion, but please state that the work you publish is nothing more than that, your opinion.
Thank You.

You are willfully ignorant, and not worth the time it would take to refute this nonsense.

I simply stated facts and summarized information taken from CNN/Fox/AP/CBS/self experience. The two links you told me to check out have questionable credibility. And fyi I am a republican to the far right of the political spectrum. IMO democrats are the government’s problem. Democrats are so pitiful in nature its sickening. A great example from HS during senior year (Year which government is taught). There was a student who didn’t do anything in a class and was in danger of failing. He came to me for answers on a quiz/test, I told him sorry I am a republican, if I was a democrat you would be in luck. The reason I share this is because it accurately depicts what a pitiful person a democrat really is. In other words they are over nice, and blinded by some peace vision or something to this effect. There will always be war. It’s human nature, you can’t change that. If Bush is such a screw up, what would you do instead, and how would that result to a better outcome than what Bush has done? What is your view of the best outcome from 9/11? So many people say the war is not a great thing…Well if we did not move in on Iraq you wouldn’t be watching these suicide bombings and fighting through your TV… you would be watching it through your window. This action keeps the bloodiest fighting on the other side of our borders. Sadly, its still just a matter of time before it penetrates our borders. Which is an even greater reason to stay and fight in the middle east. I have had so many democrats tell me this is a cowardly thing to do. Well, the president of the united states of America has a sworn obligation to support, defend, and protect the best interests of America. This is why we went to Iraq. Yes oil was also part of the equation. But oil is an important factor. The military can not function with out it. With out oil our military would not be able to carry out what they are sworn in to do. To support and defend the U.S. against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. The citizens of America also have a dependency on oil. All you people can talk about the oil, but have you forgotten the critical reason we went to war. The hundreds of innocent AMERICAN people who died on the airplanes that were crashed into buildings because of the people who are embed in the middle east aka terrorists. The hundreds of people who died that were on the streets in NY and by the other targeted areas(outside them). The thousands of people who died in the buildings. This is the greatest reason for war. Have we done nothing military wise, there would have been many more occurrences. Now those forces who encouraged, supported and actually committed the acts need to focus on staying hidden, keeping the US away from their area of operation, and to get the US out of their immediate area of operation. They cant concentrate to the same degree to commit more attacks on US soil now, because of this.
Many will say the US are terrorists for killing innocent civilians in the middle east. Well this is nothing short of false. I will not deny that civilian loss of life in the middle east happened/happens from US military action. However, this is nothing to get worked up over. It is sad, but it’s a product of war. The deaths resulting from US action on innocent civilians was never intentional. It’s also very difficult to avoid, because the enemy will grab innocent women and children to hide behind in fire fights. They will hide in holy places frequented by innocent people. They being the enemy endangers their own flesh and blood. It’s also very difficult to distinguish a terrorist, they don’t always have a what many people refer to as a “towel” wrapped around their head, and wear religious clothing. They look like you and me, nothing out of the ordinary. However, the attacks on the US were never even targeted on a military level. In other words primary targets were civilians. With the exception of the pentagon. However, what about the people on the planes? They had nothing to do with the military, they were innocent civilians. At least we try to avoid killing innocent people as much as possible. Unlike the enemy you guys are supporting, they don’t give a damn who dies, as long as they get their way. All you guys are mesmerized and feeding of the BS teaspoon that the media is feeding you with. Take a look at the other side, the media forgot about:

Next time you hear a child was shot and killed in Iraq, maybe you wont be blind as to why the US killed them…
