Nothin’s killin nothin
From theQview:
A vlog requires focus on the video. While this difference is the same as between radio and television, the difference is amplified significantly when the content is “citizen” created.
I understand that this is just an opinion and not a scientific evaluation of video blogs vs. podcasts. That being said, I disagree with the opinion.
There are some talking head videoblogs. There are also some talking head TV shows. The only difference I’ve noted is that most talking head vlogs are more off-the-cuff, underproduced, and honest than most of the garbage I see on corporate-owned TV channels. There is something to be said for production values, but when the content is just someone talking about something, do you really need flashy graphics and visual effects? On another note mentioned by previous commenters on his post, much of the vlogs I’ve seen are not talking head style.
Check out BottomUnion and Human-Dog for a couple examples. Or, like Steve said, just watch some vlogs for a couple weeks. Subscribe to the feed at videoblogging.info.
Video didn’t kill the radio star, and neither will vlogging kill podcasting. We can all live together and throw our broadcasts back and forth through the effluvial internet media cloud without hurting one another.
