Twenty-three things you may not know about me:
- My favorite author is Hunter S. Thompson
- My favorite book is Inside Mr. Enderby
- My favorite food is a green olive
- I was born and raised in the same city that my parents were born and raised in. They are still together and still live in the house in which I grew up.
- My cat Mary plays fetch, and was named for the talking statue in the film “Pecker”.
- When I drink bourbon, it’s Wild Turkey. Only on weekends.
- When I smoke, it’s American Spirits. Only on weekends.
- I eat a Granny Smith apple almost every day.
- I like to run or exercise almost every day.
- My favorite drinking glass is a Nagano Olympics 1998 tumbler… I’m drinking ice water from it right now.
- I really like ice water, and I drink several glasses a day.
- I live above a Jewish bakery in a 3600 sq ft. storage space with 3 other roommates.
- I write in a 5×7 black notebook with a Pigma Micron 05, brown archival ink.
- I have a tattoo on my chest
- I wrote on a Remington Quiet-Writer typewriter for a while until it got stuck in ALL CAPS. I haven’t had it fixed.
- I’m a decent pool player (better when I’m drunk).
- I always enjoyed yard work, and worked in a tree and plant nursery for a while back in Indiana. Now I grow vegetables on my roof.
- In 2nd grade I had to go to a special speech class because I couldn’t pronounce my R’s. World was Wuhld, Bird was Buhd. But I learned quick and was R-ing within two weeks.
- Also in 2nd grade, I had a crush on my teacher Ms. Stanley. During recess sometimes I would pretend to be sad or upset about something, and she would take me for walks on the playground looking for ladybugs.
- My wooden dresser, bed, and cat have moved with me to 9 different houses in 4 different cities in 3 different states.
- When I was seven, I was really into baseball. I covered an entire wall of my room with full baseball card display sheets. There were a few duplicate cards. I remember a couple Ozzie Guillens and Darryl Strawberrys. Also that year, Dwight Gooden and the Mets won the World Series. I’ve been a Mets fan ever since.
- Once, after reading about Hunter Thompson moving to Big Sur to attempt to write the “Great American Novel”, I mentioned to a friend that I wanted to make the “Great American Something” as well. She told me “You are the Great American Something,” and I fell in love with her then and there. Then she moved to Detroit to live with my friend and I really started to understand country music.
- I got the idea for this list from a great kid called Clark who lives in a magical place called Kah-nah-dah.
